Canada student visa new rules 2023

Student Partners program (SPP) which was started in the year 2009 is replaced by Student Direct Stream (SDS).

Canada has announced new rules for students applying under student direct stream (SDS).

According to these newly announced rules students need to obtain 6 bands in every module of IELTS and must pay the annual fee instead of semester fee to become eligible to apply under SDS rule. If a student with 6 bands in each section fails to pay the yearly fee and has paid only one semester fee, then the student's visa file is processed under the general visa category.
