UK Points-Based Immigration System: Eligibility and Key Features

The UK's points-based immigration system introduced in 2020 has the following key features:

1. Equal Consideration: 

Candidates from both EU and non-EU countries are treated equally under the points-based system.

2. Applicable Categories: 

Highly skilled workers, skilled workers, and students coming to the UK must adhere to the points-based system.

3. Skilled Workers:

 Skilled workers need a job offer and must meet a reduced salary requirement of £26,000 per year.

4. English Language Proficiency: 

Applicants must demonstrate English communication ability at A-level or equivalent.

5. Highly Skilled Professionals: 

Highly skilled professionals require endorsement from a UK authority but do not need a job offer.

6. Students: 

Students must meet points requirements by providing an offer letter from an educational institution, proving English proficiency, and showing sufficient financial resources.

7. Minimum Points Requirement: 

To be eligible for a visa, applicants must score a minimum of 70 points.

How to Score 70 Points for UK Immigration Visa?

1. Secure a Job Offer in the UK and Prove English Proficiency:

50 points will be awarded for having a job offer and meeting English language requirements.

2. Qualifications to Earn Additional Points:

- Job Offer of £26,000 or More: An offer with a salary of £26,000 per year earns 20 points.

- PhD Qualification: A relevant PhD grants 10 points, while a PhD in a STEM field adds 20 points.

- Skill Shortage Position: An offer for a skill shortage position is worth 20 points.

Accumulating 70 points ensures eligibility for the visa.
